# Image compressor.

> A free tool that resizes and compresses product photos in your browser: maximum size, WebP or JPEG, white margins trimmed, square background. No uploads.

Resize and compress product photos for your site, remove white margins and square them up. It all happens in your browser: the images are not uploaded anywhere.

Your images appear here when they are ready, with the size before and after.

## What happens to each image

1. **White margins come off.** The tool finds the product in the image, crops the white or transparent background around it, and leaves an even margin of 4% of the long side.
2. **Square, if you chose it.** The product is centred on a square white background, so every image in the gallery comes out the same size.
3. **Resized to your size.** The default is 1,200 pixels per side. A smaller image is not enlarged, so it does not lose sharpness.
4. **Compressed to your format.** WebP, JPEG or PNG, at a quality between 40 and 95 (the default is 80).
5. **Download.** Each image on its own, or all of them in one click. The file name is kept, with the new extension.

## Questions about the tool

### Are my images sent to a server?

No. All the processing happens in your browser, on your device. No image is uploaded to our site or to any other service.

### Why WebP?

WebP is an image format Google developed for the web. According to Google, a WebP image is 25% to 34% smaller than a JPEG of similar quality, and every common browser shows it. A lighter image shortens the loading time of your product page.

### What happens to the data the camera stores in the file?

The new file is built from the pixels only, so camera and location data (EXIF) does not carry over.

### Is there a limit?

Up to 30 images at a time, with no sign-up and no payment. It opens JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and GIF files.

### What if my store itself needs building?
